a saturday by the harbour
First of - new year, new hair! I have been absent for a while because I have literally been super duper busy. Although the university has not started yet, I had to go back to the office and I had the pleasure to have my boyfriend visiting me about 2 weeks ago. He is staying for a while and we have - and have had - a lot of travel plans, which explains why I have been so away! Here's a highlight of our first weekend around the pretty city I've been living in for the past 8 months.
What to do on a sunny day in Sydney? Here's a few tips and ideas. If you're on the weekend, go to The Rocks Market. Have a little something to eat on the market and stroll down the paved streets. Buy a souvenir if you wish to. I fell in love with the local Australian's freshwater pearl earrings. For $25, you get the best of the local jewellery. If it's too hot, like it was that day (over 30 degrees C), stop by the Tea Cosy. A lovely Irish tea room where I've had the best iced tea jug ever. Order traditional scones if you're a sweet tooth or finger sandwiches if you have a salty craving.
After this, climb up the walk path on the side of the Harbour Bridge to have a stunning view over the harbour. For an optional trip, go up the pylons to get a view from a higher point. Be aware that the access closes at 5pm. Walk down on the sides of the harbour, where you will arrive by the left side. Stop by the pretty green grass, where a wedding often occurs and have one of those delicious truck ice cream. Try the double choc nut!
The walk is not over. Continue to walk by the harbour and walk towards the Opera House, where you can stop at the Opera Bar if you fancy a drink. For $18, cocktails are fabulous. If not, continue to walk all around the Opera and go to the entrance of the Royal Botanic Garden. It is one of the prettiest and oldest Botanic Gardens in Australia. You may not have the time to do the whole tour, but a little walk by dawn is absolutely breathless.
To end your lovely day, go to the CBD, Westfield and eat the best ramen and buns in town at Ippudo. You will want to come back the next day!
